About us

What is the esp?

The esp was created in 2005 to meet the challenges set out in the Government’s National Skills Strategy.  The aim is to deliver greater impact and added value to employers and individuals, thereby increasing the competitiveness of the East Midlands region.

The esp has grown in strength and we have already seen the positive impact of our actions on the people in the region.

Our vision is to get “more people into better jobs in better businesses”

We will continue to improve our engagement with employers, aligning our activities so that our products and services help businesses improve their competitiveness and productivity.  We will also ensure that individuals are supported to improve their skills.

The esp Partnership in Action

Over 100 delegates attended an Employment, Skills and Productivity (esp) Partnership event on Wednesday 20th June 2007 at the Peepul Centre in Leicester, where representatives from major strategic bodies and public, private and voluntary sector organisations, came together to find ways of joint working.

This work was built upon at the esp Annual Public Meeting on 12th June 2008, with over 150 delegates attending to review the progress of the esp over the last year and help inform the future direction of the partnership. These events provided a unique opportunity to raise the issues facing the region and find new ways of working to meet the challenge of getting more people into better jobs in better businesses.

The esp Partnership Plan.

"I feel this plan has greater focus and ambition and is underpinned by a partnership truly committed to achieving a common goal. Working together, with the support of our stakeholders and customers, we now need to focus on delivering results and making the East Midlands a truly flourishing region".
