Background
If the East Midlands is to become a flourishing region by 2020, it must significantly improve its economic performance: Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) account for over 95% of the region’s businesses, so this improvement relies heavily on their performance. Business Support is an important way of improving the productivity of SMEs, and thus is a key tool in achieving the Regional Economic Strategy (RES) vision of a flourishing region.
